Ashland Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School Wellness Teacher for grades 6-8 at Ashland Middle School. The ideal candidate will provide engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in health and physical education, fostering students' physical, social, and emotional well-being. This position requires implementing a comprehensive wellness curriculum, promoting lifelong healthy habits, and collaborating with colleagues to support student success.
This position will begin in the 25-26 school year.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based wellness instruction for students in grades 6-8
Plan and implement lessons that align with Massachusetts Health and Physical Education Frameworks
Promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, and social-emotional learning through interactive and inclusive activities
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and learning
Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments
Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to integrate wellness education across the school
Manage student behavior effectively to maximize participation and learning
Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress to families as needed
Support school-wide wellness initiatives and contribute to a healthy school culture
Requirements:
Massachusetts DESE certification in Health/Physical Education for middle school (grades 6-8) or related field
Strong knowledge of best practices in health and physical education, including social-emotional learning
Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
