What are the responsibilities and job description for the BCBA Pittaway Preschool/Warren Elementary position at Ashland Public Schools?
Ashland Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, flexible BCBA to support the education of all students including those with significant special needs that require a high level of intervention at Pittaway Preschool and Warren Elementary (K-2). Through consultation, data gathering and analysis the BCBA will work with Educational Support Professionals (ESPs), general/special educators, administration, families and service providers to create and model the development and implementation of behavioral programs for students to maximize successful participation in the District’s educational program. The BCBA will collaborate with buildings and district level professionals and complete additionally assigned responsibilities at the discretion of the director of student services.
Requirements:
Credentialed and in good standing as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and as a Massachusetts Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst is a must, and experience working with students in the public school setting with significant behavioral needs at the elementary level is a preference. The candidate must demonstrate skills needed for the development and implementation of Individualized Educational Plans/Behavioral Plans/Functional Behavioral Assessments and have knowledge of developmental stages and curriculum expectations. The ability to communicate in multiple languages is a preference, but not a requirement
Responsibilities:
- Provides consultation to district administration, classroom teachers and program staff on the behavioral needs of students on the spectrum or who have significant behavioral challenges
- Works with all students including those with special needs within the regular classroom setting and the substantially separate classroom placement/programs, collaboratively planning a program of intervention which maximizes the inclusion of students with significant special needs
- Plans for and directs the classroom educational support professionals in collaboration with the classroom teacher, supports classroom needs as deemed necessary by building administration
- Employs, creates and/or identifies instructional methods and materials appropriate to the developmental level of students with special needs
- Collaborates with others to prepare special education progress reports, gathering input from appropriate school personnel, and directly works in/with students programs to develop best supports for students.
- Supports the maintenance of records on students with special needs to document instruction and student progress and make adjustments to the program when necessary.
- Participates in TEAM meetings
- Conducts functional behavioral assessments as requested and available (examples include but not limited to: FBAs, AFLS, ABBLS, VB-MAPP, etc)
- Supervise/monitor the implementation of the academic and behavioral programming written by BCBA
- Directly report to the Director of Student Services and Building Administration
