Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Manager to join our Pharmachem Laboratories Utah, LLC business at our Ogden, UT location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, visitors, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, EPA as well as local and company operating standards.
- Develop mid-term and long-term strategy & budget, address urgent short-term actions.
- Build plant KPIs aligned with company objectives; build action plans to meet KPI targets; track and report KPIs.
- Maintain a model of plant capacity; track schedule and forecasted demand against capacity.
- Engage plant team to identify, log, and track continuous improvement activities.
- Partner with finance to confirm performance against financial targets (budget, forecast, productivity).
- Work closely with direct and dotted-line functions to resolve safety, quality, and operational challenges.
- Instill a high participation and respectful team environment.
- Collaborate with team to build detailed development programs, follow-up on progress against development opportunities.
- Demonstrate positive and effective communication.
- Champion plant priorities in CAPEX and OPEX projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or food engineering
- Minimum of 10 years industry experience including operations leadership
- Track record of developing, leading, and influencing cross-functional teams
- Self-starter with urgency to deliver results.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Experience working and complying with OSHA, EPA, FDA, FSSC regulations.
- Applicable knowledge of relevant industry safety standards: combustible dust, high-hazard work, LOTO, first aid/injury management, etc.
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
- Experience with MPR (preferrable SAP)
- Six sigma, lean, or relevant continuous improvement experience
- Knowledge of health and wellness best practices in similar operations
