What Will You Do?
The Director of Distribution Center Standards and Performance is responsible for leading strategic initiatives to optimize operational efficiency across Ashley's distribution network. This role combines analytical expertise with leadership skills to drive continuous improvement in distribution center performance, cost management, and service levels.
Essential Responsibilities
Performance Management
- Develop and implement KPIs and metrics to measure distribution center performance across the network
- Create standardized reporting systems to track daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring immediate attention
- Provide regular performance updates to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Establish and maintain network-wide operational standards and best practices
- Create and maintain standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation
- Lead the development of training programs to support standardization
- Implement audit processes to ensure compliance with established standards
- Chair the Standards Committee to review and approve proposed changes
- Coordinate with regional leaders to adapt standards for local requirements while maintaining consistency
- Develop change management strategies for standards implementation
- Create feedback mechanisms to continuously improve standards based on operational insights
- Lead a dedicated project team focused on network optimization and performance improvement
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
- Collaborate with DC leadership to implement best practices across the network
- Partner with IT to leverage technology solutions for improved visibility and reporting
- Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities across the distribution network
- Lead root cause analysis efforts and develop action plans to address performance gaps
- Design and implement standard operating procedures to drive consistency
- Oversee continuous improvement projects and ensure successful implementation
- Build and manage a high-performing team of project managers and analysts
- Provide mentorship and development opportunities for team members
- Foster collaboration between distribution centers and support functions
- Drive accountability for project deliverables and results
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
- Master's degree preferred
- 10 years of progressive experience in distribution operations
- 5 years of leadership experience managing teams and projects
- Proven track record of driving operational improvements
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems
- Experience with lean methodology and process improvement
- Project management certification preferred
- Excellence in strategic thinking and problem-solving
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to influence and drive change across multiple levels
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams
- Travel up to 40% to various distribution centers
- Ability to walk through large warehouse facilities
- Computer work in an office environment
