What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor Assistant Supervisor position at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center?
Performs searches of patient's belongings upon admission; collect specimens, conducts searches of patient rooms and belongings as needed. Monitors and assesses the activity and behavior of the patients and makes appropriate interventions. Ensure patients attend scheduled activities by checking rooms and assists other staff in milieu management. Facilitates twelve step meetings. Assists patients with assigned treatment plans. Offers support to all patients while providing quality customer service. Hires and orients new staff. Provides direct supervision to counselor assistants. Completes performance evaluations. Assists counselor assistants in prioritizing duties, responsibilities and tasks. Assist with counselor assistant schedules. Train counselor assistants to block AMA/ASA discharges.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of addiction, treatment and the recovery process.
- Basic office equipment skills including but not limited to: photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, telephone system, shred boxes, calculators, computers, printers and keyboards.
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to: Microsoft office, and Outlook.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands.
- Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relationships in all encounters.
- Able to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal/written and interpersonal communication required.
- Possess personal qualifications such as kindness, compassion, good judgment and an ability to relate effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and effective in working with a team.
- Maintain good physical/emotional well-being, a positive attitude and role model.
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in psychology, Sociology, or Mental Health preferred.
- Group facilitation skills.
Required Length and Type of Experience
- Addiction treatment experience.
Three (3) years experience in an inpatient setting preferred.
Required Licensure or Certification
- ​​​​​​​ CDCA license or in process.
