The Opportunity

As we anticipate growing demands for legal representation and related support across our practice areas, we're strengthening our capacity to empower more community members through strategic pro bono partnerships and opportunities.

The Pro Bono and Volunteer Services Manager will be ALC's first dedicated pro bono manager, with the opportunity to build and shape this critical program from the ground up. This role serves as a vital bridge between ALC's programs and the private bar and other volunteers, cultivating and deepening relationships with law firms, pro bono attorneys, and other volunteers, to expand our impact. Under the supervision of and working closely with the Legal Director, the Manager will develop systems to effectively evaluate cases, place matters, and support successful pro bono partnerships across our immigrant rights, workers' rights, housing rights, civil liberties and community safety, and National Democracy Initiative programs.

The position combines legal expertise with relationship management skills to strengthen ALC's pro bono capacity and volunteer initiatives at a crucial moment for our communities. You'll join a collaborative team committed to leveraging private bar resources and other volunteers to protect civil rights and expand access to justice with the unique opportunity to create lasting infrastructure for pro bono engagement.

The Organization

Founded in 1972, the Asian Law Caucus is the nation’s first legal and civil rights organization serving low-income Asian and Pacific Islander communities. We bring together legal services, community empowerment, and policy advocacy to fight for immigrant justice, economic security, and a stronger, multiracial democracy. We are committed to serving the vast diversity of communities of Asian descent, including Arab, Middle Eastern, and Muslim communities. Our fights for justice and equity are deeply informed by and in solidarity with fights for liberation by and for Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities.

Our growing staff works collaboratively across six issue areas. Our work is rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area and California and expands to states across the country, including places where immigrant, Asian, Arab, Middle Eastern, and Pacific Islander communities are rapidly growing.
