Position Overview The Research Associate I, Analytical Development Formulation, reporting to a Scientist in Analytical Development Formulation, will be responsible for the development and execution of biochemical, biophysical, and molecular biology assays to support formulation development, robustness and stability of non-clinical recombinant Adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors. Furthermore, the selected candidate will also participate in supporting process development in-process analytics. This individual will also participate in analytical test method development, qualification, and validation support along with analytical method tech transfer for future non-GMP and GMP drug product release, when needed. The ideal candidate will have experience with ELISA, PCR assays, HPLC (e.g. SEC, RP), and/or DLS. This position will be based at our headquarters facility in RTP (Durham), North Carolina. Responsibilities Execution of developed analytical assays including ELISA, HPLC (SEC), DLS, qPCR, ddPCR and cell-based assays. Contributes to the development of analytical assays for formulation development. Participates in testing to support method development and product characterization. Contributes to test methods, reports and developmental reports. Perform routine instrument maintenance and performance verification. Responsible for maintaining clear, organized, and detailed laboratory notebooks. Perform data analysis and effectively communicate results in formal reports and presentations for internal discussions. Ensure lab areas are clean and organized and that equipment, supplies and raw materials are available for use. Assist in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support development and analytical testing needs. Required Education and Experience BS degree in Biology, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or other relevant degree. 1 year of research experience Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Experience and Skills Self-motivated, organized, capable of working independently as well as in a collaborative environment with cross-disciplinary teams. Possess knowledge of and experience with ELISA, qPCR/ddPCR, DLS, and/or HPLC. Technical lab skills with attention to detail. Ability to multitask among multiple projects and teams, and work in a fast-paced, highly interactive environment. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to innovate and use good judgment to achieve a solution. The ideal candidate will have relevant knowledge of AAV gene therapy vectors or other complex biologics.
