Civil Engineering Technician (Full-Time, In-Office)

ASM Engineering Consultants is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineering Technician to join our team on a full-time, in-office basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to civil and rail infrastructure projects by performing drafting, design, and plan preparation using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in engineering drafting and design. This position involves working collaboratively with civil engineers and other technicians to develop accurate and efficient site plans, grading plans, and utility designs.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Develop and prepare engineering drawings, grading plans, and utility layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
✅ Assist in the design and drafting of civil-site and rail infrastructure projects.
✅ Work closely with engineers to ensure design accuracy & compliance with industry standards.
✅ Review drawings to identify potential design issues and propose improvements.
✅ Maintain project documentation and technical reports.
✅ Support the team with construction administration tasks, such as quantity take-offs and plan modifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
✔ Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for site design, grading, and utility layouts.
✔ Strong understanding of construction systems, techniques, and engineering standards.
✔ Ability to produce accurate, error-free drawings while maintaining efficiency.
✔ Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
✔ Strong communication and teamwork skills—ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and technicians.
✔ Problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze design challenges and propose solutions.
Education & Experience Requirements
🎓 Associate’s Degree or higher in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
📌 In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of direct experience in civil engineering drafting/design with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
⭐ Experience in civil-site, railroad, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
