Position Summary

The Director of Sourcing, China, will be responsible for overseeing all sourcing and procurement activities related to medical devices and healthcare products within the region. Based in Shanghai, this role will focus on developing and executing sourcing strategies that optimize cost, ensure compliance, and support the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare solutions. The role demands a strong leader with a proven track record in the medical device or healthcare industry, expertise in China's supplier ecosystem, and an ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Development

• Design and execute sourcing strategies tailored to medical devices and healthcare products, ensuring alignment with global business objectives.
• Identify, qualify, and build relationships with suppliers specializing in medical devices, components, and related materials in China.
• Drive supplier innovation by collaborating on new product development and cost-saving opportunities.

2. Cost Optimization and Supply Chain Risk Management

• Negotiate contracts to secure optimal pricing, delivery schedules, and terms for medical device and healthcare product components.
• Assess and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including supplier dependencies, geopolitical challenges, and regulatory changes.
• Implement contingency plans to safeguard supply continuity for critical healthcare products.

3. Regulatory and Quality Compliance

• Ensure all sourcing activities comply with regulatory standards such as ISO 13485, ISO 9001, FDA requirements, and CFDA regulations.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to monitor and maintain supplier quality and resolve any non-conformance issues promptly.

4. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with R&D, Quality & Regulatory and Product Management teams to align sourcing initiatives with product development and market demands.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for global and regional stakeholders, providing regular updates on sourcing performance and strategic initiatives.

5. Team Leadership and Development

• Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing sourcing team in Shanghai and Guangzhou
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Serve as the senior leader in both offices, collaborating with HR and office manager/Finance

6. Market Analysis and Reporting

• Stay ahead of market trends, innovations, and regulatory changes in the medical device and healthcare industries in China.
• Provide comprehensive reports and recommendations to senior leadership on sourcing opportunities, risks, and cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or specialized certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) are preferred.

Experience:

• 10 years of sourcing or procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the medical device or healthcare industry.
• Deep understanding of China's supplier landscape for medical devices, components, and related healthcare products.
• Proven experience navigating regulatory frameworks (e.g., NMPA/CFDA, FDA, EU MDR).
