Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, the Director, Sourcing & Product Development will work closely with Sales, Marketing, existing US and Global Sourcing Teams, as well as other internal Customers to lead and support new product introduction through the full development cycle.
Job Description:
The process includes working with Value Analysis and Product Development to define the RFQ, establishing product quality requirements, identifying potential strategic suppliers for each product, coordinating the submission of RFQ to suppliers through the Global Sourcing Team, negotiating costs, MOQ, terms and lead-time, obtaining samples, evaluating product quality and specification adherence, establishing initial production and quality assurance plan, and managing the successful completion of this plan.
In addition, the Senior Director, Global Sourcing has accountability for documenting industry knowledge, trends, costing, opportunities, and risks that can be evaluated to ensure an efficient stable, supply chain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Locate, evaluate, and select suppliers to support product requirements throughout a global supply base
- Manage formal RFQ processes to assess and evaluate sourcing alternatives
- Negotiate price, payment, quality, and delivery terms to achieve best value
- Track new products through the product development process to ensure that milestone dates are met and communicate the status of each project with internal stakeholders
- Evaluate incoming samples against established requirements and address necessary changes/improvements with the Sourcing Team and Suppliers
- Lead and manage corrective action plans for product quality issues with Sourcing Team and Suppliers
- Effectively manage supply risk, uncertainty, capacity management and supplier performance
- Analyze data and publish reports for performance updates, issues and metrics
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge:
- Must have global manufacturing relationships
- Global sourcing background to include all regions
- A proven track record of success in leadership positions within progressively managed supply chain organizations
- Proven abilities as a collaborative, innovative and strategic thinker who is decisive and is highly results-oriented; high sense of urgency, personal energy and stamina to handle multiple priorities and extensive time demands
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to build and nurture new and existing business relationships while comfortably presenting ASP’s vision, strategy and value proposition
- Ability to excel with a high level of personal integrity
- Self-driven and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or regulations
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office
Education, Certification and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or other related discipline
- 10 years in lead sourcing role within a fast-paced, high growth environment
- People management experience
- Western Hemisphere sourcing experience strongly preferred
- Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred
- Valid passport for international travel requirements
