Director, Veterinary Services
The ASPCA's Los Angeles Feline Programs are seeking an exceptional veterinary leader to oversee the medical operations and ensure high-quality care for cats and kittens. As the Director of Veterinary Services, you will lead a team of professionals in providing excellent medical care, fostering a culture of learning and support, and promoting best practices in shelter medicine.
This role requires deep veterinary medical knowledge, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to improving animal lives. You will work closely with the Senior Director, nurture a culture of learning, and practice positive management approaches. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-volume spay/neuter, shelter medicine, and population-level issues.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient and population care
- Oversee medical operations, including intake exams, infectious disease protocols, and records management
- Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and assistants to provide direct clinical care and teach shelter medicine principles
- Work closely with the Client Services team and Community Medicine program to ensure consistency of care and minimize wait times
- Document all relevant medical information and ensure key stakeholders are informed about medical issues
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent
- Eligibility for licensure in California as a veterinarian; current licensure preferred
- Experience in high-volume spay/neuter, shelter medicine, and population-level issues
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
