Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Veterinary Medicine Program Director to lead our Recovery & Rehabilitation Center's veterinary services program. As the Senior Director, Veterinary Services, you will oversee a dedicated team of veterinarians and support staff, providing medical and behavioral care for canine victims of animal cruelty.
You will be responsible for developing and growing the R&R Center's medical program, making high-level decisions regarding the veterinary team's policies, operations, and strategic resource allocation. This includes creating SOP packages, onboarding new hires, and staying up-to-date with shelter medicine best practices.
The ideal candidate will have extensive veterinary experience, particularly in shelter medicine, and a commitment to improving animal welfare. You will foster a culture of innovation, encourage new ideas, and promote a multidisciplinary approach to whole-animal rehabilitation.
- This role involves strategic planning, program development, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- You will guide the team in understanding how their work connects to the ASPCA's mission, vision, values, and priorities.
- You will establish and maintain a healthy team culture, model excellent emotional regulation and resilience, and raise awareness of organizational resources to prevent/address compassion fatigue, burnout, and trauma.
