Position Overview:
The VP of DG Origination will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and closing solar and battery storage opportunities across all major US community solar and/or small-scale utility markets. As a key contributor within a fast-paced company environment reporting directly to the EVP, Origination, this hands-on position requires high attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work within a cross-functional team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in origination, an entrepreneurial passion for renewable energy development, and a desire to transform the US electrical grid as a part of the larger transition to green energy economy.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and/or expand existing relationships with DG co-development partners to develop, own, and operate solar and storage asset portfolios with a specific focus on community solar and small-scale utility projects.
- Oversee all aspects of the origination process including lead generation, commercial and legal contract negotiations, and through hand-off to project development.
- Negotiate deal documents, including LOIs, MIPDSAs, PPAs, and/or site lease / purchase documents.
- Work with internal and external deal teams to ensure successful project delivery, including coordinating with engineering, construction, finance and legal teams.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, competition and maintain current knowledge of industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking and thrive in the fast pace of a rapidly growing company. In addition, the candidate must possess:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years’ experience working at an energy project developer, IPP, and/or energy investment bank / energy broker
- Proven experience in DG origination and/or business development with a strong track record of identifying, negotiating, and closing DG projects; a network of existing contacts within these sectors a strong plus
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events

Location: Remote
At Aspen Power, our work model includes three ways of working: remote, in-person, and hybrid (a hybrid of in-person and remote). This position can be fully remote.
Compensation
Competitive package including bonus incentives and subsequent annual equity awards, all at the sole discretion of the Company and in accordance with Company policy.
