Job Overview
The Materials Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the efficient management of materials and inventory within the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring that production processes are adequately supplied with the necessary materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials management, production planning, and supplier relations, with a focus on lean manufacturing principles.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective materials management strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
- Oversee production planning and scheduling to ensure timely availability of materials for manufacturing operations.
- Manage inventory control processes, including tracking stock levels, conducting regular audits, and ensuring accuracy in inventory records.
- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices to enhance efficiency and minimize waste in material handling processes.
- Coordinate demand planning efforts to align material availability with production forecasts.
- Supervise warehouse operations, ensuring proper storage, handling, and distribution of materials.
- Analyze data related to material usage and inventory trends to make informed decisions regarding procurement and stock management.
Skills
- Proficiency in production planning and materials requirements planning (MRP).
