Job Description
The Childcare Lead supports the Childcare Supervisor in delivering exceptional guest service to our youngest guests and their families. This role is responsible for organizing daily operations within the Children’s Center, ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. The Childcare Lead also provides guidance and mentorship to classroom teachers, offering regular feedback and support to uphold high standards of care and education. This position reports to the Childcare Supervisor.
The budgeted pay range for this position starts at $26.00. Housing is guaranteed. All of our childcare roles may be eligible for a county provided stipend.

Essential Job Functions
- Support the Supervisor in overseeing the daily operations of the Children’s Center, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of all activities
- Lead and participate in group activities for children, including indoor and outdoor play, arts and crafts, games, rest time, and recreational programming
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all children, ensuring their wellbeing is prioritized at all times
- Ensure curriculum and daily activities align with department guidelines and industry best practices for early childhood care and education
- Respond appropriately to behavioral or medical incidents and ensure proper documentation and communication with parents and leadership
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment by monitoring staff performance, providing timely feedback, and offering ongoing coaching and support
- Assist the Supervisor with staff-related responsibilities, including training, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with parents and guardians, addressing questions, concerns, and providing updates on their child’s day and development
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must meet qualifications as outlined by Colorado State Childcare Licensing
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with children ages 3 and under in a childcare, camp, or educational setting required
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required, or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Must maintain all certifications and ongoing training as required by the State of Colorado throughout employment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of child development, particularly for children ages 3 and under, required
- Knowledge of basic safety protocols and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
- Patience and flexibility to meet children’s needs and adapt to dynamic or unexpected situations
- Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
- Strong communication skills for effectively interacting with parents, staff, and supervisors
- Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges or conflicts that may arise in a childcare setting
- Ability to set and maintain clear boundaries with children while fostering a positive, respectful environment
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities to guide and support a team of childcare staff
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization and attention to detail
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a childcare team
Additional Information
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required
- Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
