POSITION SUMMARY : Responsible for machining and fabrication of aircraft parts and tooling. Operates manual and CNC machines as required. Ensures that assigned functions are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures, that quality standards are met or exceeded, and that related documentation is accurate and complete.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
- Fabricates parts and assemblies according to work orders and engineering drawings.
- Estimates material requirements and tools or equipment needed to perform the job.
- Sets up and operates tools to cut, form and finish material for the job.
- Fabricates machined metal parts for Aircraft and Tooling.
- Maintains work order and calls for inspection as necessary.
- Use of measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
- Perform routine / periodic maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform detailed inspections of finished parts, to ensure quality and conformance.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communications, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring that fabrication and machining functions are completed in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : At least two years of fabrication and machining experience or certificate of completion from a machining trade school.
SUCCESS FACTORS / JOB COMPETENCIES : Knowledge of aircraft fabrication and machining. Knowledge of and ability to perform all fabrication and machining functions. Knowledge of blueprint reading. Quality orientation. Well organized and attentive to detail. Willingness to assist others. Ability to closely follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to use all Manual and CNC machinery such as Lathe, Milling machine, bandsaws, grinders and waterjet.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers. Ability to utilize Trigonometry, Algebra, and Geometry. Ability to work in Fractions and Decimals. Ability to use Standard Units of Measure.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions and to deal with ordinary, standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to use the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together. Medium work; must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and / or up to 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
