POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Control Inspector - NDT Level II performs non-destructive inspections using various industry-approved methods on aircraft structures, components, sub- components, and appliances to detect defects not normally visible. In addition, the Quality Control Inspector - NDT Level II assists with the training and oversight of Quality Control Inspector - NDT Level I.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs NDT Level II inspections using the Eddy Current, and/or Ultrasonic Testing methods on items including, but not limited to aircraft structural components using approved or accepted data issued by the manufacturer, FAA, or company standard practices.
  • Maintain certifications (ET, UT Level II) and perform these methods on any articles.
  • Work from detailed procedures, technique sheets, verbal, and other pertinent instructions to process parts for nondestructive testing and complete required record keeping.
  • Set-up, operate and perform Process Control Checks on NDT equipment by following established instructions and record results.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and report on NDT test results.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, professionalism, and a positive customer service attitude without compromising quality.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with the applicable technical data.
  • Maintain a clean and neat work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of current experience in non-destructive testing within an aerospace environment
  • Current NDT Level II certification in Eddy Current and/or Ultrasonic Testing in accordance with NAS-410. Must have documented hours for Training & Experience per NAS-410 Level II
  • Ability to lift 80-100 pounds as needed, standing and bending for continuous periods of time
  • Knowledge of repair station procedures and use of paperwork in relation to repair documentation
  • Ability to work on all lines and products independently and provide guidance to team members on all parts and processes within the Department
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 years of current experience in non-destructive testing within an aerospace environment is preferred.
  • Airframe & Power Plant license.

SUCCESS FACTORS/JOB COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience with interpretation and application of 14 CFR Parts 145, 135, 121, 91, 65, 43, and 21 Regulatory Requirements.
  • Understanding of Repair Station Operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and is very detail oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using standard English. Must be able to understand, read, write and speak Standard English, including technical, aircraft and quality control-related vocabulary, for technical and general business correspondence and for producing work products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Be able to analyze information and utilize problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to adhere to all established safety policies, processes and procedures.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Good understanding of Quality requirements, inventory control.
  • Good knowledge of FAA regulations.
  • Understanding of Company operations.
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct team activities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Able to use all related maintenance equipment and computer applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in indoor and, occasionally, outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse/airplane hangar environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines and safety gear. The outdoor settings include airplane runways and parking lots. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee frequently is required to use the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together. This would also occasionally require the ability to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Sedentary work; sitting, computer, data entry work most of the time in an office environment. Lifting/Exerts up to 10 lbs of force occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: There is no travel expected for this position.

Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship. Must be able to pass a post offer DOT drug test upon hire.
