JOB SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Educational Compliance and Local Control Accountability Plans
Ensures that Central Valley Region adheres to relevant state and federal regulations, manages compliance reporting processes, and provides guidance on educational policies and frameworks. This role is responsible for overseeing compliance in key areas, including educational plans, accreditation, program monitoring, charter renewals, and governance.
Support and project manage the creation and delivery of training, coaching, and professional development to school and regional teams related to educational compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with school leadership and regional teams to assess needs and provide technical assistance in support of compliance goals.
- Manage schedules, timelines, and deadlines for compliance documentation and reporting.
- Develop and facilitate clear, community-friendly communication to engage stakeholders in the compliance process.
- Serve as the primary liaison between schools, local education authorities, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with education laws.
- Ensure that school site councils and advisory committees comply with applicable education laws and regulations.
Provide support for schools identified for targeted support, helping them understand and meet required program standards.
Accreditation and Internal and External Audits
Lead the accreditation process for secondary schools, including overseeing timelines, meetings, and submission of required documentation.
- Ensure all schools are prepared for program reviews and inspections by external accrediting bodies.
Provide ongoing support and guidance throughout the accreditation cycle, ensuring schools maintain compliance with standards.
Charter Renewals and Annual Charter Authorizer Oversight Documents and Visits
Manage the charter renewal process, working with internal and external teams to ensure timely completion of renewal applications and compliance reports.
Coordinate the reporting of compliance data required by charter authorizers and ensure all documentation is submitted within the necessary timeframes.
Federal and State Program Monitoring
Serve as the point person for providing ongoing guidance, consultation, and training for school site staff regarding state and federal education program requirements.
- Lead the review and monitoring process for schools identified for program evaluations or audits, ensuring adherence to state and federal guidelines.
Prepare and present compliance reports, addressing any findings with regional leadership.
Regulatory and Policy Compliance
Ensure the organization remains compliant with new and existing state and federal regulations related to educational accountability and operations.
- Work with leadership to interpret and apply complex regulations and ensure effective implementation across the organization.
Develop, review, and manage organizational policies to maintain compliance with regulatory changes.
Governance and Board Liaison
Oversee the governance process, ensuring proper documentation, meeting schedules, and compliance with legal requirements for board meetings.
- Serve as the liaison for board members, ensuring they receive necessary training and support to fulfill their governance responsibilities.
Assist in maintaining policies, documentation, and processes that align with governance standards and legal mandates.
Risk Management and Contract Compliance
Manage risk-related processes, ensuring that schools and programs maintain safety and compliance with insurance requirements.
- Oversee the organization's contract management system, ensuring timely review and approval of contracts in compliance with internal procedures and external regulations.
Develop and implement systems to improve compliance processes and increase efficiency across the organization.
Additional Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior leadership to align organizational priorities with school-site compliance goals.
- Coordinate data collection processes to support compliance reporting and analysis.
- Maintain and manage compliance documentation and systems for easy access and reference by stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in communications with external regulatory bodies and agencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES & REQUIRED SKILLS:
Strong knowledge of educational laws, including those governing charter schools and state/federal education programs.
- Exceptional project management, strategic planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory documents and work with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in developing and delivering training and professional development materials.
Proficiency in using technology tools for data tracking, document management, and compliance reporting.
Minimum Educational Level:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in education, public administration, law, or a related field.
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in education compliance, reporting, or project management.
- Familiarity with charter school systems and state/federal education regulations, or the willingness to learn.
- Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments with cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of or experience with educational programs and accreditation processes.
