Job Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings and grounds by performing the following duties.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Directs workers engaged in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, utilities and furnishings of buildings.
- Directs workers engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
- Directs workers assisting other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
- Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Performs activities of workers supervised.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in either plumbing, electrical, or mechanical.
