ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Painter for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located at Eareckson Air Station in Shemya, AK.
This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site at Earackson Air Station and 1 month off unpaid. While working on-site, housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are served through the cafeteria.
Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government-sponsored aircraft.
Summary
The Painter performs general painting and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade all facilities, structures, equipment, parts, and tools. Responsible for the equipment and tools necessary to perform such work. Keeps the supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered. Able to perform assigned work orders and recurring maintenance tasks without more than normal supervision.
Essential Duties & Job Functions
Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance.

Essential Duties & Job Functions
- Performs a variety of painting and related functions, paints and redecorates interior or exterior walls, all types of material, trim, doors, cabinets, and fixtures.
- Performs corrosion control on interior and exterior surfaces such as, but not limited to: pipelines, above-ground storage tanks, and associated hardware in accordance with contract requirements.
- Prepares surfaces for application of paint or similar products by approved methods and techniques commonly used for removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices.
- Covers surfaces with cloth, plastic, or other material to protect surfaces, furniture, or equipment from paint and paint overspray. Tapes and masks windows, trim, etc., as necessary.
- Applies paint or similar products with brushes, rollers, spray guns or other methods as required in accordance with environmental regulatory compliance, company management plans, federal and state law, and customer requirements.
- Assists other trades and crafts in their day-to-day operations.
- Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
- Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) as required.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Common safety practices and protective equipment are used on a construction site.
- Surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications.
- In the use of hand and power tools, commonly used in the construction trade.
- Understanding and following directions.
- Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
- Performing duties in a timely, cost-effective manner.
- Working cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.
- Climbing extension ladders and/or elevated platforms.

Job Requirements
Mandatory
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of journeyman painter experience.
- Two (2) years’ experience with exterior and interior painting.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
- Current 40-Hour HAZWOPPER
- Current State of Alaska Hazardous Paint Handlers Certification of Fitness, or the ability to obtain and maintain.
