ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Plumber for our ISS2 contact supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located in Shemya, AK at Eareckson Air Station, EAS.
Summary/General Description Of Job
The Plumber inspects repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains plumbing fixtures in water supply and drainage systems. Performs general plumbing and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade all facilities and structures.
Essential Duties & Job Functions
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance.

Essential Duties & Job Functions
- Installs, maintains, and/or repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Cuts openings in walls, floors, or ceilings to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
- Assembles, and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, copper, and lead, and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic using power and hand tools.
- Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and faucets. Repairs or replaces burst pipes, and opens clogged drains.
- Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions to plan and lay out work.
- Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and threading machines. Bends pipe to required angle by hand or using a bending machine.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Common safety practices and protective equipment used on a construction site.
- Surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications.
- In the use of hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.
- Understanding and following directions.
- Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
- Performing duties in a timely, cost effective manner.
- Working cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.
- Climbing an extension ladders and/or elevated platforms.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations)
Mandatory
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman plumber with five (5) years’ experience in commercial plumbing systems.
- Current Alaska Certificate of Fitness or the ability to obtain from a reciprocal state.
- Backflow Prevention Certification/Training or the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Obtain and maintain a secret clearance
- U.S. citizen.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
- Backflow Prevention Certification/Training.
- Fire Pumps/Sprinkler Systems Certification/Training.
