ASRC Federal’s Summer Technology Readiness Intern Development Experience (STRIDE) offers undergraduate college students the chance to apply their technological interests and knowledge to exciting real-world missions.
We are seeking a Technical Writer intern who has experience with software engineering and information technology. Interns will gain hands-on experience using a variety of technologies in support of our government customer’s missions. This role is a temporary, remote position.
Summary: The intern will work in a collaborative environment of 185 software engineers and support personnel who deliver high-quality software to the USDA and the stakeholders it supports. Will have the opportunity to learn more about Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
Work location : Ability to work remote ( must have lived continuously in the continental United States for the past three years ).
Background investigation: Must be a US Citizen with ability to successfully complete a government issued background check.
Program dates: 10-week summer internship, June 2 – August 8, 2025
Hours: 32 hours per week

Education
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Information Science, or other relevant studies.
- Must be a junior or senior in college at the time of application submittal.
- Work with experienced writers and software developers to understand the applications we develop for NRCS Conservation Desktop.
- Contribute to ongoing documentation work for NRCS Conservation Desktop.
- Learn the basics of Madcap Flare or build additional skills in Madcap Flare.
- Experience, or knowledge, with software engineering or computer and information technology.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with content creation tools and HTML/CSS.
- Comfortable with interviewing subject matter experts and understand user workflows.
- Be able to provide 2-3 writing samples.
- Have an interest in agriculture or land conservation.
- Have experience with Madcap Flare, Paligo, or a similar content authoring tool.
