Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the administrative support needed to ensure efficient operations within the Logistics Department.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Locate tracking numbers on freight carriers’ website
- Quote shipments using online tools
- Maintain freight in transit (FIT) report based on tracking updates
- Enter freight forwarder information into a database
- Assist with monthly reporting requirements
- Provide shipment proof of delivery to customer service and accounting
- Respond to Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code email questions
- Follow up on shipment errors and damages
- Book upcoming shipments with correct route and mode
- Schedule container deliveries and maintain a container utilization report based on weight/volume
- Communicate accurate ship dates and potential bottlenecks to internal departments
- Perform other duties as needed by management
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 3 to 5 years of purchasing and logistics processes knowledge
- Effective communication skills including technical writing
- Practical problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize, plan and organize
- Capable of following oral and written instructions
- Ability to work autonomously and adapt and learn quickly
- Capable of communicating frequently with multiple departments in a professional manner
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Broker Import & Export experience
- Can meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Educational & Certification Requirements
- Associates’ degree preferred or equivalent experience
Software Skills
- Sound knowledge of MS Office applications with the ability to create reports and presentations
- Experience working with an ERP and Transportation Management Systems
