Area Representative - Iowa

Are you passionate about making a difference and helping young people around the world? We’re looking for an Area Representative to support international exchange students in your community. This is a volunteer stipend role with flexible hours, requiring just a few hours each month. You’ll be able to maintain other commitments or jobs while making a lasting impact in the lives of young people.

As an ASSE Area Representative, you will play a crucial role in supporting international exchange students placed in your area. You’ll serve as a counselor, advocate, and friend, helping these students make the most of their year abroad while also supporting local students who are interested in studying abroad.

In this role, you will:

• Public Relations: Represent ASSE in your community, sharing the benefits of international exchange programs.
• Interviewing: Recruit and screen prospective host families and students, ensuring that both meet the program’s criteria and are ready for an enriching exchange experience.
• Training: Lead orientations for host families and students, providing them with the tools they need for a successful exchange year.
• Counseling: Offer ongoing support and guidance to exchange students and host families, helping resolve any challenges that may arise during the exchange year.
• Coordinating: Plan and organize social and recreational activities for exchange students, helping them feel connected to the community.

As a trained ASSE Area Representative, you will receive ongoing support from your ASSE Area Coordinator and Regional Director. In addition, you will have the opportunity to expand your network, connecting with local schools, civic organizations, and other community groups.
