Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller, promotable to Controller, to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting management or currently hold an assistant controller position. This role requires extensive experience in supervising Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), managing General Ledger (GL) activities, conducting financial reviews, and establishing robust internal controls and processes. Experience with Yardi software is required. Experience with a Multi-Family Residential Property Management company is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including AP, AR, GL, and financial reporting.
- Supervise and mentor AP/AR staff, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Conduct thorough financial reviews and analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Collaborate with the Controller and other accounting team members to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and support to auditors.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the accounting department.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Yardi property management software is required.
- Experience with a Multi-Family Residential Property Management company is highly desired.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Accounting, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Experience in Accounting in a supervisory or assistant controller role.
- Strong knowledge of AP/AR processes, GL management, and financial review procedures.
- Proven experience in establishing and maintaining internal controls and processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
