Job Summary
The Credentialing Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring that healthcare providers meet the necessary qualifications and standards required for practice. This position is responsible for managing the credentialing process, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical office operations and terminology, as well as experience in managed care environments.
Duties
- Oversee the credentialing process for healthcare providers, including verification of education, training, and licensure.
- Maintain up-to-date records of provider credentials and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary documentation and facilitate timely credentialing.
- Conduct regular audits of credentialing files to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to provider credentials from internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and standards related to credentialing processes.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to credentialing.
- Respond to new intake contacts, contact new patients by phone, email or text. Verify insurance and eligibility benefits, obtain insurance authorization.
- Obtain new patient paperwork and insurance cards prior to initial appointment with provider,
- Obtain and coordinate EAP- Employee Assistance, medical assistance and gated HMO insurance authorizations
- Manages the new intake spreadsheets for multiple state businesses and schedules initial appointments with new patients
- Collect and collate new intake metrics via spreadsheets to monitor flow of new intakes from various insurance and EAP referral sources
- Develop relationships and engage with outside intake resources. Including insurance companies, EAP Companies, Healthcare agencies and hospitals, and other health providers and resources.
- Exhibit polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail
- Support intake-related scheduling, provider communication, and billing, administration and support staff
- Provide information by answering questions and requests, of outside resources and internal providers and administrators
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and managed care practices is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with healthcare professionals and administrative staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent education required
- 1-2 years of intake and scheduling experience
- Knowledge of appropriate software including Google Workspace, Gmail, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s EHR and communications software
