The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our team as Director of our Highway and Transportation Division.
We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated, creative, and customer service focused individual to be a vital member of the Government Relations team reporting directly to our Senior Director of Infrastructure Finance. This position will play a vital role in helping to advance AGC’s transportation construction-related priorities that impact everyone in their daily lives on Capitol Hill and at the Department of Transportation.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary liaison to the association’s highway, transit, and other transportation builder members through 88 AGC chapters in every state, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia
- Maintains presence in key Capitol Hill and federal agency offices, issue analysis, public relations, grassroots activation and cultivation
- Arranges and executes meetings with the Division’s leadership, committees, work groups, and task forces
- Cultivates relationships with other transportation stakeholder organizations and coordinates efforts as needed
- Travels to chapters and regional meetings throughout the nation to provide updates on key happenings involving transportation policy and practices
- Provides updates on key policy issues to the Board of Directors and executive leadership
Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience working with Capitol Hill on major infrastructure advancement/investment and funding policy issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Motivation and ability to respond to multiple issues simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products
- An individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, working effectively with colleagues across the organization
- Bachelor’s Degree required
