Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU, Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union (BMU), and the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), the Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Operation Programs and Services (OPS), Sustainability and student government.

 

Associated Students is now hiring for the position of AS Presents Student Ambassador. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position that will work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session. The hours for this position will fluctuate from week to week and are event driven. There are no guaranteed number of hours. The pay rate is $16.91 per hour. The schedule for this position is based upon department needs and is subject to change at any time. To be eligible for student employment, you must be enrolled at CSU, Chico and maintain at least 6 units (undergraduate student) or 4 units (graduate student) throughout the course of employment.

SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the AS Presents Event and Program Manager, the Student Lead Ambassador will assist in the event preparation, post event assessment/debriefings, program coordination, event outreach, and serve as the lead ambassador in a mentorship role to the AS Ambassador team. The aim of the AS Lead Ambassador position is to increase awareness and engagement for both virtual and in- person AS events throughout the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 The AS lead ambassador and AS ambassadors will work in a team collaborative environment to spread awareness of AS programs, facilities, and events. They will serve as a student leader who is engaged and involved on campus and throughout the AS. They will provide a positive attitude, friendly customer service, an inclusive mindset, and an approachable experience to all students and community members on campus.

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of AS Campus Wide Events, AS individual events, AS Traditional Events, and AS Cornerstone Events
  • Support campus partnerships of large scale and community events on campus that are diverse to the Chico State population.
  • Serve as the Lead Student Ambassador by providing mentorship, feedback, and suggestions to the team
  • Development leaderships skills by engaging and educating the AS Presents team with fun team bonding activities, and building overall team morale
  • Share with the AS Presents Ambassador team a weekly list of events that are happening within the AS and on campus through an email announcement or another mode of communication
  • Provide leadership and developed professional development skills while serving as the Lead Ambassador by coming up with fun and engaging icebreakers for the team, hyping up the team, and public speaking
  • Table on campus and in AS facilities on behalf of all AS programs
  • Attendance of AS events are mandatory depending on your class schedule
  • Provide exceptional outreach on campus through whiteboard glitzing, decorating, rallying the team, marketing content/strategies, hanging up posters/fliers, etc.
  • Oversee the supplies, decor, and the organization of the resource room that AS Presents centralizes to the organization
  • Has a strong eye for design, creativity, and event decoration.
  • Will prep for AS events and will debrief AS events with the team by creating team presentations, event outlines, team assessment numbers of events, and prepping maps/layouts of the event space
  • Actively attend and contribute to all AS presents meetings
  • Maintain accurate records of events and logistical details pertinent to the continued success of AS programs and events in the AS Presents box, Asana/Trello, and other project management tools.
  • Attend and actively contribute to all AS campus-wide programs, cornerstone, and traditional events when not in class.
  • Coordinate, host and help facilitate dynamic and engaging small and large-scale events that build community, support social engagement, and facilitate co-curricular learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of events and logistical details pertinent to the continued success of AS programs and events.
  • Under the supervision of the AS Presents Manager, meet with the AS Presents team on a regular basis to improve programs

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with prolonged periods of work on a computer and regular contact with others. Participation in various activities, events, meetings are required and will include evenings and/or weekends dependent on the program schedule.

 Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; verbal and written communication. 

  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 10 lbs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months student or community leadership experience.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 units (undergraduate) or 4 units (graduate) at California State University, Chico.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  •  Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to large groups on campus.
