What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phone Nurse - Women's Health Advantage position at Associated Surgeons and Physicians, LLC?
Responsible for triaging patient phone calls and messages coming into the office and performing the necessary tasks required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will answer phone calls, portal messages and text messages from patients that require nurse assistance
- Will conduct initial health assessment by asking detailed questions about symptoms, medical history, and current medications over the phone, patient portal, or messaging system
- Will utilize approved office protocols to provide education and advice to patients
- Determine urgency of patient’s situation and direct them to the most appropriate course of action, like scheduling and appointment, seeking immediate emergency care, or providing self-care instructions
- Will aid in other necessary patient care duties such as refilling prescriptions, voicemail management and engaging in other patient care tasks as needed
- Will provide excellent customer service to patients, providers, and staff, as well as communicate effectively to ensure coordinated patient care
- Serves as a resource for the appointment scheduling staff, and other team members as necessary
- Participates in meetings as assigned
- Maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping and documentation in the electronic medical record
- Assist in the orientation and training of new phone nurse personnel
- Strictly adheres to HIPAA laws and company policies regarding patient confidentiality
- Responsible for other tasks as assigned
JOB TYPE:
- Onsite, 40 hours per week (8 hour shifts, M-F)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required
- Current Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license
- One year or more of experience as a licensed nurse required, OBGYN experience preferred
- Skill in applying and teaching necessary clinical techniques and methodology for desirable treatment outcomes
