Projected Salary Range: $80,000-$130,000 / year
Overview: : The Association for Energy Affordability (AEA) is a rapidly growing nonprofit energy services and training organization dedicated to achieving energy efficiency in buildings to foster and maintain affordable and healthy housing and communities. Energy consulting services are completed through AEA’s participation in a variety of federal, state, and local energy efficiency initiatives. Position Summary: AEA West is seeking an experienced Project Manager who is passionate about multifamily energy efficiency and green buildings to join our tight-knit, talented team of “Energy Geeks”. The candidate must be someone who is a highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven individual to join our tight-knit, talented team of energy professionals.
AEA is hiring for primary work locations based within 20 miles of Downtown Los Angeles and expect candidates to be present in our DTLA co-working space1 day a week. Candidates must have the ability to travel within California upon request.
Responsibilities:
The Projects Manager may be expected to assist with:
- Collaborate with various decision makers to successfully develop and complete multifamily energy efficiency, solar PV, and decarbonization projects and assist and/or oversee junior project staff with successfully completing projects
- Conduct energy audits and field inspections of multifamily and commercial buildings; elevate construction feasibility and system design, job costing and financial analysis; perform construction QAQC projects, and train junior staff in these areas.
- Oversee the day-to-day management and process flow of projects participating in one or more of AEA’s multifamily programs, provide analysis at both the project and program levels
- Engage in project scheduling, data analysis, report production, special program projects/pilots, and database management as needed to deliver high impact energy efficiency and building decarbonization programs
- (Depending on program) be responsible for contract management responsibilities associated with programs, interfacing with both the client and any subcontractors
- Be a self-starter, and independent problem solver, and a strong tram-player and will work with and manage junior staff to increase workload and advance their skillsets
- Conduct training both internally and publicly on topics such as energy efficiency technologies, energy auditing principles, and decarbonized building operations
- Work on national projects to help develop industry standards and guidelines
These responsibilities may be revised over time to ensure the functional responsiveness of the Project Manager to AEA and Federal and California State program requirements
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 years related experience in a related role.
- Strong multifamily project management experience delivering multifamily retrofits.
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, building science, or energy conservation preferred or an Associate Degree with either on-the-job or trades experience in energy conservation, renewable energy, and energy audits
- 2 years successfully managing junior staff.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in energy efficiency and green building principles.
- Familiarity with local, state, federal incentive and rebate programs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to bring together various resources to work together collaboratively.
- Excellent communication, organization, presentation and analytical skills.
- Sound technical writing skills and demonstrated experience in an energy efficiency related field
- Knowledge and understanding of Title 24 and other building codes and standards.
- Experience with the use of energy modeling software i.e. EnergyPro, CBECC-Com & -Res, EnergyPlus, and CSE programs
- Knowledge of building systems including mechanical systems, lighting technologies, and building envelope.
- Experience managing construction, retrofit, and/or solar projects
- Ability to perform cost saving analyses and fuel data analyses
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT)
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Salesforce
- Home Energy Rating System (HERS and HERS II) rater certification.
- Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification.
- Collaboration platforms like Slack and Teams, and any other software/platforms used
