Description
Summary Job Goal: The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in
a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include trucks, front-end loaders, dozers,
graders, compactors, and other pieces of equipment. The work is conducted outside in a construction
environment for up to twelve (12) hours per day, in all weather conditions.
Performance Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operates all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs daily safety and maintenance checks of the equipment.
- Cleans heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
- Ensures heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
- Advises the Superintendent of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
- Participates in routine maintenance.
- Practices workplace safety.
- Maintains inventory.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill,
and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with
disabilities to perform the essential functions. Yup'ik speaking preferred. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to successfully pass a drug test prior to employment and at any time of employment.
EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or GED is required. Construction experience is required.
Proven proficiency with heavy equipment operation.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Commerical Drivers' License (CDL) is required.
