Responsibilities:
- Receives patient referrals in person, by phone or fax, documents them and notifies appropriate disciplines and case manager.
- Responsible for assigning, coordinating and scheduling all staffing needs on a patient referral.
- Ensures staffing needs are in compliance with physician orders.
- Responsible for tracking status of all patient referrals.
- Manages all aspects of daily patient referral and intake operations.
- Ensures compliance with all state, federal and JCAHO referral/intake regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that patients are admitted in accordance with agency policy.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationship with current and potential referral sources.
- Gathers, collates and reports referral statistics to the management.
- Identifies and reports to Director of Clinical services opportunities for additional or improved services to meet unmet customer needs.
Required Skills:
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist, intake coordinator or in a similar role is preferred
- Proficiency in using phone systems and handling multiple incoming calls
- Knowledge of medical administrative support tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Understanding of medical terminology and ability to accurately transcribe information
- Experience working with electronic health record systems, such as KINNSER, is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
