Overview
Egis Insurance & Risk Advisors, an Accretive company, is seeking a Claims Manager to join our program administration team in Lake Mary, Florida.
Egis Insurance & Risk Advisors is the program administrator of the Florida Insurance Alliance (FIA), the fastest-growing governmental insurance trust in Florida. FIA is one of the leading providers of insurance and risk management services to Special Districts and Public Charter Schools in Florida.
Under the direction of the Executive Vice President, the Claims Manager will oversee FIA’s liability claims operations and will be responsible for ensuring that our TPAs are handling FIA’s claims to the highest standard and settling claims within policy guidelines. The Claims Manager will also assist our TPAs with coverage investigations and will act as a liaison between FIA and their reinsurers. They will also be responsible for identifying and directing claims handling process improvements through solution implementation.
The Claims Manager will work closely with the rest of the program administration team (Underwriting and Loss Control). They will be expected to assist with planning, operational efficiency, reporting, member satisfaction, and policy form improvements.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for the oversight of FIA’s liability claims operations.
- Ensure that claims handling is performed within the standards/best practices and that TPAs are administering claims in accordance with FIA’s claim philosophy.
- Attend mediations and hearings on behalf of FIA.
- Coordinate the claims process between FIA’s members, TPAs, and legal counsel.
- Oversee and coordinate the flow of appropriate notices and information to TPAs and reinsurers.
- Participate in TPA claim audits.
- Identify and direct claims handling process improvements and divisional projects through solution implementation.
- Implement accountability measures to drive customer service and quality standards.
- Assist the TPA with property inspections and handle some property and auto PD claims, though the Claims Manager is not expected to carry a claims inventory.
- Assign counsel, ensuring timely and appropriate disposition strategies are in place and cases are moving forward.
- Identify and timely report claims that meet FIA reinsurers’ reporting criteria.
- Analyze applicable coverage for all submitted claims and determine whether the loss falls within the policy coverage.
- Identify, assign, and coordinate expertise resources to assist in case resolution.
- Assist brokers and agency partners by answering coverage inquiries and providing status updates on open claims.
- Develop and maintain relationships with FIA members, management companies, brokers, reinsurers, vendors, and outside counsel.
- Actively participate in webinars and departmental/functional projects to drive business results and innovation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive P&C claims experience.
- AIC, CPCU, SCLA, or similar designations highly preferred.
- 6-20 or 7-20 Florida All-lines adjuster license.
Competencies / Technical Skills:
- Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate a desire for continued professional development through continuing education and self-development opportunities.
- Professionally curious with strong problem-solving skills.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to travel, sometimes overnight, approximately 20% of the time.
- Self-directed individual who can work with limited direction in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinker who understands the industry and the lifecycle of a claim.
