ABOUT THE POSITION
This critical position is responsible for the leadership, optimization, strategy and execution of our Global Sourcing Strategies, including NPD and Supplier Development deployment in support of those strategies. This position will integrate closely with the businesses and functions to foster a culture of executing on customer satisfaction, cost, quality and efficiency improvements, and assure supplier performance to provide exceptional value to Astec. A key success factor is being able to clearly articulate the Global vision and influence the organization. Global Procurement is a major value contributor to the strategic goals of procurement and supply chain with contribution to the company’s performance and bottom-line results.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Sourcing Strategies and ensure alignment with the company vision, using market intelligence, macroeconomics and political climate to anticipate and determine current the next generation sourcing locations.
- Familiarization of specific countries laws and regulations including tariffs, anti-dumping, foreign corruptions practices act, conflict minerals, child labor, etc.
- Effective development and execution of agreed Global strategies on a timely basis while achieving comprehensive decisions considering Make vs. Buy analysis, Cost Down, Cash In, Supply Base Optimization, and TCO modeling, OTD, Extended Payment Terms and PPM performance KPI objectives for Global, BU & Site
- Coach and Develop appropriate supply strategies, negotiation approaches and quality expectations aligned with Global Sourcing, New Product Development and Supplier Development objectives
- Lead and Coach make vs. buy initiatives and work with the businesses to articulate a more efficient manufacturing model as needed
- Deep understanding of freight INCO terms, and use appropriate analysis when making sourcing decisions to the best interest of the company
- Provide long and short-term strategic plans consistent with and supportive of company goals and objectives
- Identify leading practices from inside and outside of Astec for implementation / adoption
- Set the Global Procurement & Sourcing roadmap / priority and development of team competencies to meet those set. (internal / external)
- Develop a strong team aligned with strategic categories with Subject Matter Experts
- Facilitate the collective team’s ability to manage projects to specification and cost parameters on a timely basis
- Coach and develop key relationships with a cross functional internal (i.e. BU and Functional Leaders, Engineering, Marketing, Production, Operations, IT, HR, etc.) and external stakeholders to gain full alignment in , change management initiatives and meeting business objectives.
- Support the Senior and Executive Leadership team in the gathering and analysis of data based on category requirements
- Build communication channels and understanding between Astec Global Sourcing, Procurement and other company business disciplines
- Proactively support active Business Unit leaders by serving as a resource to help identify opportunities and drive results
- Experienced developer and contributor to building, implementing, standardizing and enforcing procurement department policies and procedures
- Provide direction and support to the strategic procurement process to ensure the proper due diligence and integration activities are complete prior to long-term master contracts
- Lead and coach on implementation of complex sourcing strategies, with both direct and indirect spend knowledge.
- Coach and Develop RFP’s, negotiate new supply contracts and select and develop relationships with key suppliers
- Perform periodic vendor audits to ensure supplier quality, on-time delivery and continuous supplier base improvement.
- Track key metrics and measure to gauge the success of the procurement function.
- Be a strong contributor to the budgeting process initially and throughout the year by comparing actual to budget and providing projections and run rates to management.
- Support the necessary management, tracking and reporting on supplier quality programs.
- Research and understand the market conditions, advances in technology, supplier performance and economic forecasts. Keep Business informed regarding economic conditions, market conditions, lead times and shifts in pricing. Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner while protecting the long-term interests of the Company.
