Senior Director of Nursing (Senior DON)
Position Overview :
The Senior Director of Nursing (Senior DON) is a pivotal leadership role within our Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), responsible for overseeing and guiding the nursing departments to ensure the highest quality of care for our residents. This position requires a seasoned nursing professional with a strong background in long-term care and extensive experience managing clinical operations, staff development, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership and Management :
Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the nursing department.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure quality care and compliance with regulations.
Lead and mentor the Director of Nursing and other clinical leaders to achieve organizational goals.
Clinical Excellence :
Ensure nursing care aligns with evidence-based practices, resident-centered care, and regulatory standards.
Oversee resident care plans and clinical assessments, ensuring timely updates and accuracy.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance the quality of life and care for residents.
Staff Development and Retention :
Recruit, train, and retain highly qualified nursing staff.
Foster a positive and supportive work environment, encouraging professional growth.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to nursing staff.
Regulatory Compliance :
Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations, including CMS and Joint Commission standards.
Prepare for and lead regulatory surveys and audits, addressing any deficiencies promptly.
Monitor and maintain accurate clinical documentation and records.
Budget and Resource Management :
Develop and manage the nursing department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.

Oversee procurement and management of medical supplies and equipment.
Quality Improvement :
Lead quality improvement initiatives, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Implement programs to enhance resident outcomes and satisfaction.
Serve as a liaison with families, addressing concerns and ensuring effective communication.
Qualifications :
Valid FL Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in a Skilled Nursing Facility or long-term care setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, including CMS guidelines.
Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement and staff development initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications :
Certification in Nursing Administration (CENP, NEA-BC, or similar).
Proven track record of successful regulatory survey outcomes.
Experience managing multi-site clinical operations or regional nursing leadership.
Working Conditions :
Office-based within the facilities, with occasional travel for training or meetings.
On-call availability to address urgent matters or emergencies.
