Production Planner
Type of Position: Salaried / Exempt
Reports To: Supply Chain Manager
Department: Supply Chain
Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for planning production, quoting orders, and entering orders. They will interact with customers to provide process and retain information in response to inquiries, concerns and requests about Astro products and services. To be successful in this role, it is imperative that one develops the knowledge about Astro’s product line and become well-versed in the technical language of our industry.
Essential Job Functions:
· Work with Supply Chain to develop and execute the production schedule
· Interact with customers via telephone, email, and in person. Respond promptly to customer’s inquiries, product, and service requests
· Process all customer POs and RFQs in accordance with manufacturing lead times
· Release and organize production orders for manufacturing
· Execute the production schedule according to requirements
· Well versed in all manufacturing processes
· Clear understanding of product flow through manufacturing
· Ensure that materials are at their proper location
· Create report of customer shipments for weekly production meeting. Follow-up with department managers to ensure on time deliveries and communicate any issues immediately to the customer
· Attend weekly Engineering meeting and follow up with sales department to summarize pending engineering requests
· Communicate and coordinate with internal departments to facilitate special customer requests
· Retain and apply highly technical information and relay back to the customer in a way they can understand
· Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills coupled with exceptional phone etiquette
· Give direction to production workers for effective execution of the production schedule
· Set priorities for production based on the production schedule
· Ad hoc projects as assigned by management
Qualifications:
· Minimum 3 years production planning experience is required
· Customer service experience is preferred
· Bachelor’s degree is preferred
· Experience in a technical manufacturing/distribution environment is preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook) is preferred
· Infor Syteline experience is preferred
