What You Will Do
- Become an expert in state-of-the art machine and automation functionality via associated software packages.
- Conduct CNC programming for new and existing sheet metal parts for the fabrication department for various sheet metal fabrication equipment and automation systems.
- Perform daily sheet nesting.
- Document programs created and modified for future troubleshooting or training purposes.
- Work with supply chain, manufacturing, and design engineering to ensure part programs and nests are always updated to the latest part design revision.
- Work closely with manufacturing and design engineering to ensure part manufacturability on fabrication equipment.
- Work in conjunction with Fabrication Technicians to test and troubleshoot all programs created before releasing for production.
- Perform modification of existing programs.
- Support and facilitate training and cross-training on the fabrication programming software, including fabrication equipment where necessary.
- Assist engineering team in estimating production cost and cycle time for new products and for product design changes.
- Ensure daily successful interaction between fabrication, programming and scheduling.
- Ability to adapt to schedule changes in response to real-time daily or hourly needs to accommodate re-work, quick-turn jobs, and prototypes.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Associates degree from two-year college or technical school or equivalent work experience.
- 2 years of CNC programming experience, preferably in fabrication.
- 1 year minimum experience or equivalent in a manufacturing setting strongly desired.
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D software and/or experience with CAD/CAM software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and oral communications skills, ability to make independent decisions with a high level of accuracy.
- Mechanical aptitude including advanced blueprint and measurement reading abilities.
- MS Office proficiency.
- Strong ability and willingness to work in a team.
- Knowledge or experience of metal manufacturing processes.
- Experience with fabrication equipment. Salvagnini, Trumpf, Amada equipment or other CNC equipment a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to trouble-shoot problems may be needed at times.
