ASU Preparatory Academy Charter School, sponsored by Arizona State University is an innovative K-12 charter school. We believe that all students can achieve a four-year university degree. The Content Writer reports to the Curriculum Innovation Manager and is responsible for the writing course content and assessments for 6-12 courses in their subject area specialty. This position works closely with the Course Development team which includes, Curriculum Specialists, Instructional Designers, Creative Directors, and Web Developers. The Content writer is responsible for delivery of accurate content and assessments and revising content as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field, Masters preferred
- Valid Teaching Certificate in subject area, any state acceptable
- Minimum of two (2) years curriculum writing experience required
- Three years’ experience teaching with at least 1 year in a virtual school setting
- Experience with the state and national standards essential
- Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write content and assessments aligned to state and national standards based on ASUPD pedagogical requirements
- Apply ASUPD pedagogy to deliver content in a way that transforms the learner experience
- Understand the target audience to write content that is appropriately scaffolded and engaging in a virtual environment
- Participate in quality assurance testing to validate the accuracy of content and/or assessments
- Revise course content and assessments based on feedback from the product development team
- Collaborate with d team members to incorporate innovative technologies into courses
- Review content to determine necessary revisions for content and assessments
- Write all documents required for course development
- Participate in the revision of externally produced content and resources
- Evaluate resources for appropriate inclusion in course development
- All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established
- Must maintain efficiency by meeting deliverable timelines, schedule and coordinate meetings, utilize resources, and communicate with respect
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of subject matter, pedagogy, and digital curriculum design
- Understanding of 504/508 compliance, Backwards Design, Universal Design.
- Experience applying instruction to digital curriculum design.
- Knowledge of subject matter, pedagogy, and curriculum design
- Working knowledge of online instructional design theories
- Knowledge of grammar and command of the English language
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and motivation skills
- Strong collaboration skills as it relates to product development
- Comprehensive content knowledge in specific subject area
- Outstanding organizational abilities, in particular, the capacity to manage several different work-streams at one time and proactively accomplish deliverables
