Overview
The duties and responsibilities of the Health and Wellness Director include overall planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Resident Care Department in accordance with current existing federal, state and local standards, as well as in accordance with the established policies and procedures at the Community, to maximize fulfilling the care-giving needs of residents who reside at the Community. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities. The duties also include providing direct care to residents in the assisted living community under the direction of the Community President. The Health and Wellness Director will comply with the rules and regulations governing assisted living communities in your state. Such care will be performed timely and accurately in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and current acceptable policies, procedures and principles relating to the operation of the Community.
Duties
- Develop and implement health and wellness programs tailored to the needs of residents.
- Manage daily operations of health services, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Supervise the care team and coordinate shift management to maintain optimal staffing levels.
- Conduct assessments of residents’ health needs and create individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance resident care and support services.
- Ensure that all team members are trained in medical terminology, resident rights, and best practices in assisted living.
- Monitor the effectiveness of health programs and make adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes.
- Provide guidance on acute care protocols and home care practices to enhance service delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience in nurse management within a healthcare setting, preferably in assisted living or similar environments.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team while fostering a culture of respect for resident rights.
- Exceptional communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to promote holistic wellness.
- A valid nursing license or relevant certification is preferred but not mandatory.
