ATC is looking to hire a Machine Builder on our Service Team to create and support custom automation equipment. ATC Automation designs and builds custom automated assembly and test equipment for various industries including transportation, life science, and consumer goods.
A Machine Builder fits and assembles components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, and sketches. The Machine Builder also constructs, rebuilds and repairs machines using precision instruments, various hand tools and power tools.

This position in on the service team, up to 50-70% travel is required with ability to travel at moment's notice.
How You Will Make a Difference:
- Analyzes blue prints and specifications.
- Verifies conformance of components to the bill of material.
- Aligns components for assembly.
- Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts.
- Tests operations of assemblies.
- Assembles, sets up and operates machine for tryout.
- Lays out hole locations and drills and taps holes for assembly.
- Verifies conformance of components to customer's specifications.
- Uses precise measuring tools.
- Knowledge of various hand tools.
- Determines cause of malfunctions.
- Has disposition authority on rejects and rework.
- May require machining, designing, and toolmaking knowledge.
- May communicate with machine designers during conceptualization and development of details.
- May communicate with customers as needed.
- May authorize drawing changes during fabrication and assembly.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Understand I/O schematics.
- Plumb pneumatic circuits and perform low voltage system I/O systems checks.
- Self-driven and the ability to work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication/ interaction skills
- Exceptional documentation skills
- Good time management
- Travel is required
You Have:
- High School and Vocational Technical School
- 3 years of work experience building custom automation equipment
Physical Demands:
- Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor.
- Physically be underneath machines working overhead.
- Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.·
- Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
- Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
VISUAL ACUITY: Near acuity with or without accommodation.·
HEARING Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose.
Working Conditions:
- High noise levels from operation machines.
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
- Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
- Skin exposure to oil and fluids.
