Lab Manager

Job Opportunity: Lab Manager | Up to $70/hr

Location: Acute Care Setting
Title: Lab Manager
Pay Rate: Up to $70/hr
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date: Flexible
Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Position Highlights

• Certifications Required:
• Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) via ASCP
• BLS NOT required (no patient contact)
• Experience Required:
• 5–10 years as a supervisor or manager in any lab setting
• Preferred: Histology or direct point-of-care experience (not mandatory)
• Education:
• No degree required, MLS certification is sufficient

Responsibilities

• Oversee histology, point of care in hospital/clinic settings, and the phlebotomy team.
• Supervise 25 FTEs across ~40 staff members.
• Manage HR functions (no clinical lab testing duties).
• Collaborate with pathologists on histology-related matters.
• Provide guidance to the phlebotomy lead on HR issues.

Additional Information

• Shift Details: Mon-Fri, no weekends or holidays.
• Orientation: 2 weeks of department-specific training.
• Dress Code: Business casual (scrubs optional, no color requirement).
• Technology Used:
• LIS System: Soft Lab and Path Lab
• EMR: EPIC
