Duties

This position is located under the Office of Enforcement Programs and Services (EPS), Firearms and Explosives Industry Division, located in Washington, District of Columbia.

Incumbent serves as a Management and Program Analyst in any division or branch within the office of Enforcement Programs and Services (EPS). Provides assistance, advice, and recommendations to the Assistant Director, Deputy Assistant Director, Chief of Staff, Division Chief, Deputy Division Chief, and other senior management officials on a variety of matters within their respective chain of command. Incumbent functions as a policy developer and advisor on long-range planning, policies and procedures relating to the operations and functions of the Directorate, which affects the Bureau's Strategic Plan. Serves as the primary point of contact within their area of responsibility regarding resources and program analysis.

Major Duties Include:

  • Performs analytical and evaluative duties concerned with line management and or program administration.
  • Analyzes various sources of data in order to accomplish projects, complete assignments, and evaluate proposals, problems, or other matters that require action by their office.
  • Prepares written recommendations and makes oral presentations for actions.
  • Assesses changes or potential changes in administrative and operational policies, which affect operations and programs.
  • Serves as a project leader on management project teams both internal to EPS and externally and prepares project papers and staff reports.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.

Shift work may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for a GS-14, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of a GS-13.

Specialized Experience Is Demonstrated Experience, Which Has Equipped The Applicant With The Particular Knowledge, Skills And Abilities To Perform Successfully The Duties Of This Position. Experience Must Be In The Normal Line Of Progression Or Must Be Related To The Work Of The Position Advertised And Must Be Reflected In Resume. Specialized Experience Is:

  • Applying qualitative and quantitative analytical methods and techniques to evaluate quality operations; AND
  • Preparing briefing papers and reports; AND
  • Managing projects and analytical studies of complex administrative, and managerial functions relating to the quality improvement, productivity, control, and related strategic planning.
