POSITION: Payroll Specialist I
LOCATION: San Antonio, TX
HOURS: Full-time; Hourly
COMPENSATION: $18-$25 per hour
ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a talented Payroll Specialist to join our North American Payroll Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a thriving company within a dynamic and unique industry. Based in our San Antonio-Downtown office, you’ll support our Payroll Manager, reporting directly to them. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience as a Payroll Specialist, working with HRIS/HCM systems (such as ADP, UKG, Ceridian), and possess strong, hands-on payroll expertise
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist employees through electronic onboarding.
- Timely process employee changes such as deductions, garnishments, pay rate changes, withholding changes, terminations, etc.
- Review timecard data (ABI Mastermind) for completion and compliance with state, local and department level work rules, and supervisory approvals
- Process employee Time & Attendance data, import and reconcile variances in ADP WorkforceNow and UKG
- Familiarize with various Collective Bargaining Agreements as they pertain to payroll processing and employee benefits.
- Validate reports and reconcile payroll prior to transmission of payroll.
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the Time and Attendance and Payroll Databases to provide customer service to supervisors and employees for payroll related matters.
- Respond to employee related requests from third parties (employment verification and unemployment claims)
- Create, audit, and maintain electric employee payroll files and records
- Other payroll duties as requested
- Assist with Union Audits and respective health and/or pension contributions
- Assist with cross-training staff to ensure certain critical payroll are carried out efficient
- Assist with issuance of W2s and 1095c’s
EXPERIENCE and SKILLS
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing a plus
- Experience using ADP Workforce Now and UKG preferred
- At least 1 year payroll processing experience required
- Experience with Union employees preferred
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office programs
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices
- Knowledge of basic federal and state regulations regarding payroll
- Outgoing and positive attitude, complemented by a professional demeanor
