Position summary:
Responsible for verifying Workers’ Compensation coverage for patients, scheduling and coordinating new and existing Workers’ Compensation patients and obtaining authorization for procedures and services. This is a full time position M-F in our Occupational Health Facility Athens, GA. This position reports directly to the Director of Workers’ Compensation.
Essential Functions:
• Verifies Workers’ Compensation coverage for patients and obtains authorization, demographics, billing and other information.
• Coordinates and reschedules new and existing WC patient appointments
• Obtains authorization for diagnostic tests and surgeries
• Acts as a liaison between the WC representatives and office staff involving authorizations and coordinating follow up care.
• Updates patients records
• Sends medical records, work status forms, and other information to the WC representatives as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and medical office procedures
• Strong computer and telephone skills
• Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation Insurance and/or prior authorizations in a medical office setting preferred
• Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
• Ability to problem solve
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, co-workers, patients and WC representatives.
Education and/or experience:
- High School diploma or GED and previous experience in a medical office setting.
- Previous Workers’ Compensation, medical scheduling and/or insurance pre-verification experience preferred.
