What are the responsibilities and job description for the RHS Cheerleading Coach position at Athletics?
TITLE: Head Varsity Coach
REPORTS TO: The Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and evaluation in conjunction with the High School Principal.
JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and confidence.
SUPERVISES: The Head Varsity Coach advises, coordinates and supports a staff of High School Assistant Coaches in conjunction with the Athletic Director and respective Principal.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Has a thorough knowledge of the Athletic Policy approved by the Russell Independent Board of Education and is responsible for its implementation.
- Has knowledge of the system, state and conference regulations; implements same consistently.
- Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all student and parent requests and grievances through proper channels.
- Attends all public/staff/department meetings that require attendance.
- Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school sports program.
- Responsible for assigned sport's program.
- Directly responsible to the Athletic Director and the building principal.
- Responsible for the professionalism of the assigned sport's staff. Exemplifies high moral standards and professional behavior to staff and students.
- Responsible for the total administration of the assigned sport's program.
- Responsible for the overall maintenance and organization of the program from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.
- Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or superintendent.
- Attend annual Coaches Meeting and Harassment & Discrimination Training
- Attend all training required by KHSAA
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Has the ability to organize and supervise their respective program.
- The Head Varsity Coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and at the same time must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the sport.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Satisfactory completion of State mandated health examination.
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must complete 64 college hours

- Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal and/or Athletic Director
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Salary commensurate with the Russell Independent Schools Extra Service Salary Schedule.
