Unistrut Construction, a part of Atkore, is a Chicago based (Addison, IL) specialty steel contractor with approximately 250 employees and branches in major cities across the United States. We specialize in Healthcare and High-tech Datacom construction work and are licensed nationwide with expertise in design, engineering, fabrication, and installation services. Our goal is to create value for our customers and stakeholders by providing innovative differentiated solutions to the construction market. We support small “book and turn” renovation work as well as large complex multimillion dollar multiyear projects. Our primary customers in these segments are sophisticated larger General Contractors serving the renovation and new construction segments building marque or highly visible projects across the region

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for an Inside Sales Rep (ISR), based in Tampa, FL or Addison, IL for our Unistrut Construction business.  In this role, the ISR will identify, qualify, bid, and secure projects in the Healthcare, Data Center and Complex Commercial Construction markets in your Region. The ISR works closely with our Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) and will share critical information for mutual success. This role can be a long-term position or as a pathway to take on a RSM position.

What you’ll do:

  • Work collaboratively with RSMs, Project Managers (PMs), and our Estimating Team, to support customer requirements (on small to medium sized construction projects) while achieving sales revenue and margin objectives.
  • Optimize custom searches using online platforms such as Dodge, Building Connected, Medical Construction Data, etc.) to manage inbound leads.
  • Actively respond to request for quote/request for proposal solicitations and qualify projects to improve our probability of success.
  • Examine and interpret blueprints, drawings, and reflected ceiling plans to find Unistrut appropriate scope of work and coordinate requirements to the estimating team.
  • Implement a robust follow up process with customers and manage key data within our CRM platform (Salesforce).
  • Help expand our scope of work through strong customer engagement, uncovering client needs, to ultimately provide a solution that offers unmatched quality, delivery, and value.

What you’ll bring:

  • 2-3 years of inside sales experience.
  • Successful using online tools to collect data and identify projects that drive revenue growth in an organization.
  • Possess a technical aptitude and desire to understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, integrity, organizational skills, and basic data analytics for decision making.
  • Ability to put the customer first, respond quickly to changing project conditions, and communicate recommendations to the team.
  • Word, Excel, PPT, and CRM tool experience.
  • 1 year(s) in the construction space is strongly preferred.

What you’ll accomplish:

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Complete the Atkore immersion program.
  • Develop relationships with RSMs to understand how to best support our sales objectives.
  • Gain an understanding of the sales process and become familiar with the tools to effectively manage projects.
  • Track opportunities in our CRM (Salesforce)
  • Begin learning our product, services, and how to find and assess it on a blueprint.

Within 6-months, you’ll:

  • Identify the top General Contractors (GCs) and end users in the Region.
  • Leverage online platforms to search, locate, and qualify projects that align with our core competencies.
  • Begin to gather key project scope requirements by reading specs, interpreting drawings, and talking to customers.
  • Demonstrate competency in our estimating, bid process for RFPs and RFQs, and order entry requirements.
  • Become proficient at Sales Force to manage projects effectively to include key customer data.
  • Continue to develop strong relationships with our RSMs, PMs, and Estimating Teams.
  • Articulate who we are, what we do, and confidently deliver our value prop to a customer.

Within 12-months, you’ll:

  • Demonstrate stand-alone proficiency at reading drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Evolve into an online expert optimizing results using Dodge, Building Connected, Medical Construction Data, etc.
  • Estimate simple projects without assistance.
  • Conduct scope reviews, on small to medium sized projects, and make recommendations to support customer needs.
  • Work closely with several top GCs specifically focusing on creating value for their preconstruction teams.
  • Consistently communicate with Unistrut Construction RSMs/PMs and coordinate requirements for projects in their territory. Share information on market trends and overall business conditions.
  • Leverage strengths to improve our project conversation rate and take market share from our competition.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $49,600 - $68,200.  Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.  Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
