Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for an Instructional Designer Specialist, reporting to the Operations Training Program Manager, this person will be responsible for developing hourly training and qualification programs in alignment with Atkore’s Frontline Worker Development Program. This person will create, maintain, and in some instances implement programs that connect employees with performance expectations; consult with leadership to develop the workforce; and ensure employees meet job competence, as a coach and mentor. This position can be placed at one of our locations within the continental United States that has access to major airport hub. Travel up to 50%.
What you’ll do:
The ideal candidate will have 1 – 3 years’ experience as an instructional designer or trainer with experience in implementing training programs for workforce development needs. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement.
Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct training needs analyses to determine skill gaps and key training outcomes.
- Research and collaborate with subject matter experts to develop content, design training materials, and execute plans to fulfill requirements.
- Develop blended learning solutions including traditional classroom methods, electronic delivery methods, and hands-on training to meet learning needs.
- Maintain updated curriculum and training records through the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Measure training effectiveness to reinforce organizational goals.
- Help drive the development of standardized jobs and qualifications, as well as an annual review and maintenance process
What you’ll bring:
- BA or BS degree in Education or Instructional Technology, Organizational Development or Human Resources required.
- 1 - 3 years of experience as an instructional designer or trainer with experience in implementing training programs for workforce development needs.
- Experience in applying adult learning theory to training programs.
- Experience in writing assessment items to learning objectives.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of day in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Ability to travel up to 50%

Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
- Work in partnership with facility leadership to identify employee training/development needs
Within 6 months, you’ll:
- Align work priorities with Atkore’s strategic direction and deliver practical business solutions
- Serve as a mentor to program stakeholders to ensure accountability
Within 12 months, you’ll:
- Inspire a culture of accountability and actively drive individuals toward desired training outcomes
- Develop processes to help the organization manage change, including building strategic working relationships throughout the organization

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $65,360 - $89,870. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
