Preschool Teacher

Description of Duties:
Plans lessons and instructs students in activities according to Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS) designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development for preschool/pre-kindergarten students. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe and health learning environment to promote language development. Develops and identifies appropriate individualized educational goals; Maintains documentation of student progress and utilize appropriate instructional techniques and strategies to address individual student needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess or be eligible to obtain Georgia teacher Certification in the area of Deaf/Heard of Hearing students

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

• Possesses or is eligible to obtain Georgia Teacher Certification in the grade or content area of the prospective position
• Three years of experience teaching deaf/hard of hearing students
• Applicants must exhibit the ability to communicate in American Sign Language during the interview with the expectation of obtaining an American Sign Language Proficiency Instrument (ASLPI) rating of 3 or above within three years from date of hire

Salary/Benefits: Paid on the Georgia Teacher Salary Schedule based on teaching certificate and creditable years of experience. This is a 10-month position paid on a 12-month basis. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance; annual/sick leave; and Teachers' Retirement or Employees' Retirement.
