Job Summary
The Project Manager will oversee the feasibility study and development process for a LGBTQ Community Cultural, Educational, and Recreational Center. This position will manage all aspects of the project, from initial community outreach and site evaluations to the preparation of the final feasibility report. The Project Manager will collaborate with AFCRA’s Executive Director, city officials, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure the project is completed on time and meets the needs of the LGBTQ community.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Lead and manage the feasibility study and planning for the LGBTQ Community Cultural Center.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring all milestones are achieved within specified deadlines.
- Coordinate and supervise day-to-day operations, ensuring all project tasks are carried out efficiently and according to the established plan.
- Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders, including community organizations, and other partners.
- Site and Location Evaluation
- Collaborate between local governments to assess potential locations for the LGBTQ Community Center.
- Conduct site evaluations to determine the suitability of government-owned properties or other potential land acquisitions.
- Collect data on zoning regulations, site access, and infrastructure to inform final site recommendations.
- Community Engagement
- Organize and facilitate community engagement activities, including focus groups and public meetings, to gather feedback from the LGBTQ community and other stakeholders.
- Ensure the perspectives of LGBTQ individuals and organizations are prioritized and integrated into the project planning process.
- Maintain positive relationships with community groups and advocacy organizations.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with various stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure the project’s alignment with city priorities and regulations.
- Ensure regular communication and reporting to all stakeholders
- Coordinate with staff and subcontractors as required (e.g., for the final report creation) to ensure deliverables are met.
- Performance Monitoring and Evaluation
- Set measurable goals and performance metrics for the project, ensuring progress is tracked and adjusted as necessary.
- Conduct regular evaluations to assess the effectiveness of the feasibility study and engagement efforts.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3- 5 years of project management experience, ideally in community-focused projects, urban development, or cultural facility planning.
- Proven ability to manage diverse stakeholder groups, including government agencies, community organizations, and the general public.
- Skills:
- Strong project management skills, with experience in planning, execution, and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with community engagement strategies and methods.
