Job Title : Security Patrol

Seasonal Flex Schedule :
- Winter (Tuesday–Saturday) : 9 : 30 am–5 : 30 pm (Sunday / Monday off)
- Summer (Tuesday–Saturday) : 10 : 30 am–6 : 30 pm (Sunday / Monday off)
Job Purpose : Under the supervision of the Security Manager, complete day to day work assignments to include, but not limited to, patrolling Zoo Atlanta grounds. Security Patrols are essential operating position(s) and as such, may be required to remain on and / or report for duty during declared emergencies or when necessary to support operational needs. Declared emergencies will be defined by the Director of Security or appropriate manager. In addition, security officers must be capable and willing to serve as a member of Zoo Atlanta’s Specialized Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Patrol Zoo Atlanta in accordance with security proceduresCheck for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, and security violationsReport safety concerns, security breaches, fire hazards, water leaks and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writingWrite detailed narrative reportsInvestigate incidents, accidents, crimes, etc. by interviewing and obtaining statements of victims, witnesses, suspects and concerned partiesOperate security vehicle as neededAssist in inventory or inspection procedures as directedMonitor security radio channels and communicates effectivelyAttend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as requiredMaintain high visibility by patrollingRespond to emergency situations requiring security assistanceAnswer questions and assist guests and employeesReinforce security procedures, and safety policiesEscort cashiers and other employees to venues throughout the park in a conscientious and timely mannerMonitor access control to critical areas including security building, administration building, and perimeter access gatesRepresent Zoo Atlanta in a professional and courteous mannerCapable of operating security equipment, i.e., CCTV, IMS effectivelyBe familiar and proficient with the Emergency Procedure ManualBe familiar and knowledgeable of the Emergency Notification ListBe familiar and knowledgeable of the Zoo Atlanta PoliciesReview pass-on information and update staff as neededMiscellaneous duties, functions, special projects as assignedComplete all other duties as assigned by security management staffKnowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Must be able to communicate with employees and guests proficiently and professionallyGood oral and written communications skillsExcellent customer service and public relations skillsComputer experienceBe familiar with Microsoft softwareAble to work in a team environmentFlexible availability, including weekend, evening, and holiday hours, and rotating shiftsMust have a valid Georgia driver’s license and a good MVRAbility to sit and monitor CCTV systems for periods of timeEducation and Experience :
High school diploma required; advanced degree preferred.Experience in customer service or hospitality preferred.At least 1 year of experience as a security officer or in a similar role preferred.Certificates / Licenses / Registrations : Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License that is acceptable per Zoo Atlanta’s auto liability insurance carrier guidelines.
Physical Demands : Be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Work Environment : (Employee must be comfortable working outside for extended periods.)
